From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
